uncomfortable questions meme
What is:
1. Their physical weak spot
Zoro is stupidly overpowered to the point that not even his blind left eye or his lefthandedness can be considered weaknesses. He fights as well as if not better than he did when he had two eyes, he's trained himself to be ambidextrous, and he lacks for nothing in strength, stamina, and carriage. His scars are just reminders, they don't cover spots on his body that might be damaged. He has honed his body to nigh-perfection so that it won't let him down in a pinch, up to and including haki.
His sense of direction doesn't count as physical, right?
2. Their emotional/moral weak spots
Zoro is amoral so it's only a weak spot if you consider anything other than virtuous weak, which I don't. He's a bit stunted when it comes to relating to people - because he is such a loner at heart, it's hard for him to even want to make friends, let alone figure out how to do so. He misunderstands people, doesn't care enough to empathize, and let's not even get started on how he has no idea how to approach romantic relationships. He default assumes people all operate on the same level he does and gets confused and frustrated when they don't match up to his expectations.
3. Scars or painful spots
Across the chest, partially around both ankles, over his left eye. None of them pain him any longer, though depending on how long he's had the eye, it might still give him eyestrain headaches sometimes if he's relying too much on his physical sight in various light conditions.
4. Best places to kiss on their body
His neck, temple, the palm or wrist, throat, collarbone, just below his navel, his chest scar, inside of his thighs. Obviously lips and cock. If it's someone he has feelings for, he will also accept eye-scar kisses.
5. Guilty pleasures
That would be implying that Zoro feels guilt for anything! And he really doesn't, not when pleasure is concerned.
6. Their vices (physical or emotional)
Obviously Zoro drinks, but not to get drunk, since his tolerance is so high that he usually can't anyway. He doesn't really have any vices because the way he lives is balanced between his own wants and needs, his crew's wants and needs, and what will or won't get them arrested or killed. Nothing he does is a true detriment to himself or to anyone around him.
7. Their tickle spots
Just one - back of the knees.
8. Bad memories/experiences
Kuina's death, though he doesn't dwell on it; the pain of his ordeal on Thriller Bark, and the whole incident on Sabaody. In addition, he doesn't like to think about what happened after Sanji found him near death on Thriller Bark - a lot of it he can't remember but he does clearly remember the completely stricken look on Sanji's face and the way he tried to help, before Zoro passed out.
9. Humiliating memories
Sanji laughing at him after Perona's ghost hit him. :| And what Perona tried to do to him before Mihawk showed up on Kuragaina. Surprisingly he doesn't remember his 2001 childhood losses to Kuina as humiliating - they were at the time, but only as an experience, not as a memory.
10. Fears/phobias
Zoro doesn't afraid of anything. He's stupid like that.
11. Bad or petty habits
Baiting/goading Sanji and getting into their petty little squabbles, some deeply-suppressed jealousy when Sanji pays more attention to the girls, walking around shirtless or even naked without a care in the world who sees (if he gets out of the bath and there are no towels, by god he will walk naked to the men's cabin to get a towel). Drinking at 8am. And noon. And pretty much any time of day. Only showering once a week. Not doing the laundry.
12. Grudges and vendettas
Shock and amaze, he doesn't have any. Zoro fights in the moment and then walks away when it's over, he resolves things and then leaves them. His desire to surpass Mihawk is neither a grudge nor a vendetta, he doesn't hate the guy for any reason.
13. What gets them flustered
Very specific topics and situations. I mean, some people can flirt with him and he'd just brush it off or ignore it, but others might make him flustered. He doesn't like being caught off-guard, or put in a situation where he knows he's in the wrong but he doesn't know how to apologize or make it better despite the fact that he actually wants to. Being embarrassed. Naked women.
14. Ingrained habits/forces of habit
He still only sleeps about 3-4 hours a night even if he's not on the ship (when in a game) and takes naps to supplement, plus he works out daily. Insulting Sanji is reflexive, he doesn't even think about it. Zoro is actually better with his own routine in place, he doesn't like to be thrown out of it without good reason.
15. What it takes to make them cry
A LOT. Really, he doesn't shed tears in grief. It has to be something that blindsides him, and on top of that, he has to be physically drained so that he literally can't control himself when he starts to feel emotional. That is the real difference between why he sobbed when making Luffy his promise but didn't shed a single tear for Merry. With the former, he had just been brought to his lowest point both physically and mentally, he was bleeding out, his body was so wrecked that when he came to grips with the emotion of the moment, he didn't have enough stamina to stop himself from crying. Whereas at Merry's funeral, despite the fact that he had been awake for about 36 hours straight and had been fighting, he wasn't too badly injured and had the buffer of higher emotions from their victory and escape to balance him. He had the physical strength to control himself no matter how grief-stricken he was. It's also a matter of internalizing/externalizing emotions. His own defeat and failure mixed with his own determination meant everything to him, it's what he lives for. In contrast, grieving for Merry was less about himself saying farewell to a ship and more about seeing the effect it had on his crewmates. He and Sanji both stood stoic and grieved in their own ways, though it touched them that everyone else was sobbing.
16. Dark secrets/’skeletons in the closet’
AS FAR AS WE KNOW he doesn't have any, unless there's something about his past pre-dojo that Oda's waiting to spring on us. The irony is, he doesn't tell anyone about the most boring, mundane truths of his life, his past, and his experiences, yet by the same token it doesn't mean he's hiding anything gruesomely bad about himself. Even his lack of romantic interest in anyone, or his leaning toward a preference in men, it's not so much a secret as it is something he doesn't bother talking about. The only thing that might qualify is what actually happened with Kuma on Thriller Bark, but Sanji knows that secret.
17. Regrets
NONE. Zoro doesn't live with regrets. Well, it's possible deep down he might slightly regret asking Kuina to fight with real swords since it did sort of indirectly lead to her death but it's not something he really considers in his present state.
18. Things they’ll never admit
That ever since he and Sanji fought alongside each other at Arlong Park, he was mildly attracted to the cook, but then all the bullshit between them since pushed it out of his conscious desires into his subconscious. That he loves Sanji's cooking, that he missed everyone in the crew when they're not there including Sanji, that he actually thought about them a lot during their 2 years apart and missed them deeply. That he loves Luffy like a brother.
19. People they’ve hurt or indirectly killed, and how it affected them
It's probably fairly likely that Zoro has deliberately killed, and it doesn't bother him too much. Nothing he regrets, but nothing he seeks out or thirsts for. By the same token, it's not likely he's accidentally killed (Kuina does not count!) - he fights with deliberation and only uses killing force when killing intent is directed at him. If some foe died from their injuries taken at his hand after he was out of the picture, no big deal - it would have been a result of a deliberate fight and all injuries sustained by both parties were dealt willingly and with the genuine expectation that it could lead to death, and both parties consented to that fate. Same goes for injuries dealt in a fight.
Emotionally hurting, though...there's a select few people Zoro would feel bad about hurting, and that's if and only if he was in the wrong and he knew it. He's said harsh things to several of his crewmates, but Zoro is always convinced of his rightness and does not regret scolding them. He chooses his words with as much deliberation as he does his attacks, he very rarely reacts out of the heat of anger and has to eat his words. Conversely, if he inconveniences someone or bumps into them, he's quick to apologize, openly and casually - he's very much of the "oops my bad" type.
20. What-ifs/Alternate Timelines
I don't really think about what-ifs. Like, if Kuina hadn't died, Zoro would not be at all the person he is today in any way and that's all I can really guess at. Anything else doesn't interest me.
21. Turning points in their life
Kuina's death, meeting Luffy, his first encounter with Mihawk, Thriller Bark, defeat on Sabaody, training with Mihawk.
22. People who’ve influenced them greatly
Kuina, Luffy, Mihawk. Sanji.
